We all walked off that field exactly 8 months ago today with a bitter taste and our heads hung. It was a disheartening finish to what seemed to be a promising season, just 4 weeks prior to that game. But a lingering bitter taste only makes the nectar of victory that much sweeter!
Eight months ago today, our season ended but Jeff's email from that afternoon should still ring true. This is our 8th season and as the weather gets nicer, the excitement of Shattered Dreamsis in the air. We may be one year older and our jerseys might be outdated (and slightly embarrassing at this point), but our aim is still to win a championship and pound some beers along the way....
As coach Dubs eloquently put it "I am proud of this team and that we have all stuck together for this long.... Lets go out there tonight with our heads high... Playing smart, hitting the cut offs, making the pitcher work". Well said.
Tomorrow's game will definitely be rough - lots of rust to shake off, but let's not get our heads down. There will be terrible swings and miscues for sure, but we can win an ugly game. We've done so many times in the past. The only thing bitter tomorrow night should be the aftertaste of some cheap beer.
So get a good night's rest and tomorrow morning pack your glove, your cleats and your SD pride. Let's let Collins and Dubs come back to a 1-0 first place squad.
Looking forward to taking the field with you gentleman once again. At 6PM, Thomas Jefferson #3, the road to the championship begins....
see ya'll there
