State of the Union

After an exhibition-like first game a few weeks ago, SD was ready to go in the Dreams' 2011 uptown debut. Although Ian, Duff and Jerry were missing, the President was in town for this affair. Forget the Cowboys, Shattered Dreams is America's team.

I can't say last night's game was all that exciting but a win is a win. 7-3 is your final and SD is back on the long side...the winning side. And it's good to be back. While I don't mind Obama, I'd have to say that my favorite President is Thomas Jefferson. Put us at 111th street and we are nearly unbeatable.

What a bizarre game. Turner Construction trotted out their version of Kat Osterman and for two thirds of the contest, she shut us down. This game easily might've been a terrible loss. Much like Al Gore, we could've been left shocked with the "coulda, shoulda, how the heck did we lose to those guys" feeling. However, we had two big innings and a few clutch hits from a couple of gentleman whose birth certificates and timely hitting are both indisputable. Big knock by Hans in the second inning to open the scoring and 2 huge RBIs in the sixth by Jeff D to give us some much needed insurance. Well done fellas and Happy Birthday to you both (this week).

CC can hurt you from anywhere in the lineup and can blaze on the basepaths in kenneth coles, cleats or second hand starbury's. I am not talking about Calvin Coolidge. Collins showed great hustle throughout the game and along with Craig L, Robbie and myself - reached base multiple times last night.

Though the game had excitement levels more along the lines of C-SPAN than ESPN, BP showed no signs of rust and continued to bring the intensity on the mound that keeps us in every single game. With Perles on the hill, there is always HOPE. Finally, though there was not much sexy about the D, web gems from Seltz and Craig L started and ended the game and sent the Yorkville Jenny Finch home with an L.

"It feels good to win" - Jeff D
Yes it does my friend. One under our belts now, but let's amp up the intensity and smoke the next team that dares to tread on our turf.
