It’s become difficult to write about our wins of late. It’s been all business. We go out there each week. We get great pitching. We play lock down D. We embrace the 2 out rally and we make the opponent pay for mistakes. And …we WIN.
Coming off a laugher, we faced a formidable opponent last night…. “I hate this team. I hate their captain. I hate their uniforms. I hate their arrogance. I hate them. Period. …Dreams on 3…” I love Jeff’s pre-game “bulletin board” inspiration. I began to hate the Situation too, and their Jersey Shore cockiness….
While our D was tighter than an Ed Hardy T on a guido from Bayonne, we had trouble hitting their soft tossing hurler in the early innings. Things all changed in the 3rd frame when, with 2 outs I reached base on a fielding blunder by the Situation. Like a Jaeger bomb from a shot girl at Sprats, it wasn’t exactly what we were looking for to get us started, but it was a gift we would not refuse. Then came the two out magic to which we’ve been accustomed. Craig L, Ed, Seltz, and Collins all followed with clutch hits to cap a 4 run rally that effectively changed the game. Our opponents left the field looking more disappointed than a 2001 Craig Liebowitz, after the lights were turned on at Mad River.
Despite the heat, and with less than his best stuff, BP battled through and again turned in a solid performance. In a warrior-like effort, Perles maintained his composure and trademark hair - with grit, determination, and much less product than Pauly D.
Collins has also been playing exceptionally well. At the plate, Craig notched another hit and RBI. As captain of the OF, he also played a flawless game – positioning his teammates and anchoring the squad. CC made a great play to stifle a Situation rally, charging in at breakneck speed, faster than you can say “Hoboken”, and snagging a sure hit.
J-WOW! JDubs broke out of his slump and laced two ropes, igniting the Dreams and scoring a run in the process. He likes it a little bit trashy, enjoys fruity drinks, is a Long Islander through and through, and has healthy breasts. And when the temperatures swell, they both raise their game. The similarities are endless. Looking forward to seeing the energy and sweet singing that will come as we head into the summer.
Ed continues to deliver Bad Medicine to our opponents, with 2 more RBIs and perhaps the biggest hit of the night. Seltz also stayed hot, with 2 hits, 2 runs and an RBI. Against the Situation, Jerry continued to excel with two more hits, an RBI, and some old school trash talk. This team was young and arrogant and thought they could talk shit, but Jerry poured it on like a meathead with a bottle of Drakkar, before a night at Neptunes.
GTL may stand for Gym, Tan, Laundry, but with Craig roaming the field, it was more like Get it To Liebowitz. Well done as the utility player, taking 6 positions and putting out more than a 23 year old girl after an evening at Madisons.
The defense was impeccable and we stepped it up in the 6th and 7th to extinguish any hope for our adversaries. After the last out, we celebrated and fist pumped more than Ronnie and Vinnie in a club in Seaside and delighted in our 4th victory against zero defeats.
Right now we are riding higher than Snooki’s poof and heading into two big Friday games with confidence. All the pieces are in place. We have a souped up Camaro and are ready to cruise the road to a championship. Buckle up and hang onto your fuzzy dice….
