The Verdict is In: SD Wins Again

Week 1 of the 2010 season, started off inauspiciously for Shattered Dreams, as the hometown heroes gave up 2 runs in the opening frame against the insurance attorneys of Anderson Kill. However, SD set a precedent that day, rallying to score 12 runs and earning a decisive judgment in their favor. The Dreams haven't looked back and have gone on a winning streak that would make Perry Mason proud. 7-0. Undefeated. First Place. Case closed.

Last week's opponents from Anderson have a real catchy, feel good slogan - "Settle for Everything"...Presumably last Thursday they were content settling for a good old fashioned ass-whooping. SD is rolling and with the swagger of Arnie Becker, we are holding our opponents in contempt and sending them all off with losses.

This game was won in the first inning. The first 6 men reached base, and we effectively ended the game with a 5 run outburst and trademark SD aggressiveness. Green light Dubs was waving runners around 3rd base with more gusto than an AK attorney filing oil spill related insurance claims. We tacked on 3 more in the third inning and our D overruled any attempt at an AK comeback. More Dan Fielding than Matlock, it became quickly apparent that Anderson would be settling for a loss this evening.

Hats off to the Defense and BP, as always. We are only giving up a shade over 4 runs / game (after giving up 21 in our first 2 contests). Cliebo, Jeff I, Seltz, Collins, Hans and Robbie all reached base multiple times and the top 6 in the order accounted for 9 runs and 7 RBIs. That is a tough lineup to pitch to! Hustle points to Jon (for actually getting to the game) and Jerry for busting it out of the box all night. Special nod to Hollie who bolted from work to relieve me of my broken down vehicle alongside the FDR, so I could make opening pitch. Talk about AAA service! The dedication to SD reaches far and wide.

After sitting shiva and driving from eastern LI to make warm ups, Seltz noted our problematic collective passion for SD. And with that, 12 men left all of their problems behind and went out to take another step towards fulfilling a destiny 9 years in the making...

Rohin is happy to be back in the lineup

Against lesser opponents, we seem to ease off as the game progresses, but this will need to change in the dog days of summer, as our toughest challenges lay waiting...The first test comes tomorrow against Nuts and Bolts. We battled them in week 2, to a 10-9 victory and can hand them their 5th loss - effectively knocking them out of playoff contention. It's a big game for them and a statement game for us. Time to turn it up a notch....We have the passion. We have the talent. We have the dedication. We're missing the ring.

It feels good to be 7-0 but we are only halfway there. There are 7 more wins to a championship. Let's go get it.
