It is good to be back..........
Shattered Dreams made its triumphant return to the diamond last night and quickly dusted off the cobwebs and dirt to bring home an amazing come from behind victory in extra innings 14-11 against stiff competition from C&B.
It was a complete team effort on both sides of the plate. Offensively, the entire lineup contributed remarkably with key hits, walks, sacrifices and smart baserunning. Defensively, its always going to be a little rough coming back from the off season but when push came to shove, held strong. Great plays in the outfield and in the infield kept the game alive and allowed the team to secure the hard fought, come from behind victoty.
Speaking of the offense, the lineup looked stronger than ever. No matter where you are batting, who is ahead of you or behind you, you have the confidence that if you get on base, you have a great opportunity to score. Top to bottom, great effort and performance for the bats. Especially in our first game with little practice.
Some key highlights and shout outs of the tremendous night:
Welcome aboard Ian Rohin...... With huge expectations, stepped up to plate and made some splash. 4 for 4 with 2 rbi's, 2 singles, a double and a triple.. Great numbers. As The big stick said, "I am on the Ian Rohin bandwagon. After a night like that, I can't wait to see what he does in his next game".
Our 2,3,4 batters..... It comes to a point where you don't notice the numbers because they are just always expected. These guys put the ball in play and make sure the table setters come across the plate. They always have pressure on them because we rely on them and they always come through.. Good job guys......
Pitching... Finishing regular games are tough but extra inning games are really tough. "In an extra inning game, it come down to which team is better conditioned. Obviously your offseason program prepared you guys well. You were the better team" said Brian Perles. Buji pitching 8 strong innings kept us in the game the whole time... Good job...
Jerry and his eye... 3 walks, 3 runs scores.. I talked about it all night... Great line.
Some quick note... Duff's catch was spectacular, Hansen's play of almost every position was tremendous and the entire outfield was a mark of consistency...
I think more important than the game was that 11 guys played and 11 guys drank at brother jimmy's.. I might have to go to the record books but i do believe that is a first.... Great night... Will, you missed your girl anna later in the evening.. She looked just as impressive in street clothes as in the tshirts (actually, not really....)
What a night... Everybody really stepped it up... In the first game that went to extra innings, we proved we have the endurance and the power to keep our heads focussed and win. This will be a big year for Shattered Dreams.. A BIG YEAR....
The fun has just begun.....
