Shattered Dreams have The Frozen Ropes....

 

In the History of Shattered Dreams, we have not played any other team as much as we have played The Frozen Ropes. This team continuously gives us a tough time and makes us work very hard. For the new players on the team, and a quick recap for the vet's, here is some history on the rivalry that is The Frozen Ropes vs. Shattered Dreams:

 

July 24th, 2002 -

 

A night that will forever be implanted in my mind. There are some life altering moments for some people, this night was one of them for me and for so many others.. It took place on 207th st..  It was a beautiful night out... SD took an ealry 2-0 victory courtesy of a 2-run homerun from Flatline in the first inning... We lost the lead and were really in some trouble coming into the bottom of the 7th down by 2 runs... Nucci comes up to bat and pops out 2 short.. Mike Machione comes up and pops out to deep right field... And then something started to happen..  Britt, who was due up next got ejected from the game and from the entire grounds watched in disguise as seltzer stepped up to bat... BAM, slams a single up the middle... Jerry then comes up in to bat and like so many other times in clutch situations powers a single over the Short stops head... and then the Focker came up to bat... If we rank the top 5 moments in SD history, i am confident this is on everybody's top 3... Smacks a Game winning, 3-run home run which set Shattered Dreams into the Stratosphere... Might have been the most important hit in SD history because it triggered the best celebration we have ever had... POUR SOME SUGAR ON ME...... Shattered Dreams win 7-6

 

August 2002 - Playoffs...

 

A night I would like to forget... We played hard but in the end, Frozen Ropes got some redemption by beating us and ending our innaugural season.. I wish I stepped on Second Base... We all put this game behind us and looked forward to the next season with a chip on our shoulders...

 

July 9, 2003 - 128th and 3rd

 

We were lucky enough to have this night video taped so we could replay it over and over... A close game the entire way... This night belonged to Craig Collins (who went 4-4).. He started off by giving us an early 1-0 lead in the first. The Ropes came back to tie it up and take a significant lead. But SD kept fighting and fighting... Having a chance to win the game, in the top of the 7th, The ropes came back to tie it up... Then in true SD Fashion, we had out last licks... Big Stick came up and led off with a single.. Flat had a FC and was on first base... Seltzer came up and ripped a single.. Then, after stepping out of the batters box to take a deep breath, collins smacked a game winning RBI single to send the Dreams out of the dug out and congratulate Flat and collins... Well Done.. Well Done..

 

July 20 - 2004 - 111th and 1st..

 

Not one of the best performances from Shattered Dreams.. We got ourselves in an early hole and never were able to come back.. We did fight hard though. 6-4 was the final. Considering we gave up 4 runs in the first we showed heart and one..

 

So tonight brings a new chapter to the Frozen Ropes vs. Shattered Dreams Legacy.. Will we have more heroics in the bottom of the 7th?? Will we have another raucous celebration at Jimmy's?? Who will be the hero tonight?? Tune into 111th and 1st avenue tonight at 6:30 to find out... This is a Roll Call....Who's in...
